As a textile design intern for DAWANG New York, a modern chinoiserie fashion brand, I utilized my knowledge of the chemical and structural properties of fibers in addition to graphic design skills to create the two main textile designs for DAWANG’s 2022 collection (ft. on brocade and knit fabrics).
I collaborated with the DAWANG founder and head designer to maintain brand image through textile design while also providing input on brand decisions such as collection designs, collaborations, and event planning.
I served as the primary textile designer for the "DAWANG Double Sided Jacquard Sweater Vest" featured below, which ultimately became one of DAWANG's standout successes. Witnessing my craftsmanship come to life on a garment that was worn and admired by numerous individuals was undeniably one of the highlights of my internship journey.
Exploring the world of textile design has been a fascinating experience, involving the discovery of various fabric types and playing with different color combinations. The excitement peaked when I started trying out my own designs, seeing them materialize on fabric. It's been a satisfying journey, highlighting the creative potential in the process of textile design. Some of my thought process and exploration can be seen below.
The look featured below entirely contains fabrics which I was the main textile designer.
