During my internship at Nike in Beaverton, OR from June to August 2023, I focused on enhancing the color development of footwear materials through extensive material characterization, analysis, and testing. I utilized equipment such as a spectrophotometer and light box to drive innovation in color quality and matching. Additionally, I had the opportunity to shadow experienced material development professionals and gain valuable insights into the world of footwear product creation.
Throughout my internship, I actively collaborated with cross-functional teams, including material/color development, technical development, footwear engineering, and design. This collaborative approach allowed me to gain a holistic understanding of the footwear development process and the crucial role materials play in creating top-notch products. As part of my research, I also had the privilege of attending the NW Materials Show to stay updated on the latest trends and advancements in material innovation within the industry.
